I will pen a bill to  federally decriminalize medical marijuana.

I do not want marijuana a federal issue.

I want it a state issue.

By decriminalizing it at a federal level- it is not the same as legalizing it. Medical marijuana decriminalization means that people are no longer arrested or incarcerated for drugs for personal use.

When my father had pancreatic cancer, I could not get his primary doctor nor his oncologist to sign for medical marijuana even though it was legal in Michigan because it was federally illegal. I watched my father suffer needlessly. I want to make sure it NEVER happens to anybody else.

When the love of my life got cancer-he had weeklong chemotherapy and never sick using 50mg lollipops. It took away his nausea. When he had to be inpatient between chemo, the lollipops were not allowed due to be federally illegal and he was SO sick. I want to make sure it NEVER happens to anybody else which is why I am calling it Walt's Bill.

My story: I used to need oxycodone for migraines. They were THAT debilitating being hospitalized twice. Now, I can use indica and a couple of exedrine. I have my original bottle of oxy untouched for years. I have a physician friend in SW Florida that gave up surgery to study different strains and their medicinal effects. NIH has several studies going on showing anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties.

Patients are given Dronabinol (Marinol) because cannabis edibles are not allowed due to being federally illegal.

A 10mg 30day supply of Marinol can be over $150.

How much do you think a hospital single dose is?

50mg TCH lollipops are about $2-3 and last for a few days.

(Dronabinol (Marinol) is a cannabinoid. It's a synthetic (man-made) form of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is an ingredient found in marijuana. Dronabinol (Marinol) works by attaching to cannabinoid receptors in nerve cells to help with nausea and vomiting and improve appetite.)
